USGBC - Northern California Chapter (USGBC-NCC) is a designated
provider of GBCI-approved courses for continuing education. This means that the Chapter
may now hold workshops and events that provide professional development Continuing Education
hours (CE hours) for GBCI's LEED Credential Maintenance Program (CMP). GBCI now requires all LEED Green Associates and LEED APs
with specialties to receive green building education to maintain their
credentials.
- LEED Green Associates must earn 15 CE hours
biennially
- LEED APs with specialties must earn 30 CE
hours biennially, as well as additional hours for additional specialties
To fully understand the Credential Maintenance
Program, please read through GBCI's CMP Guide and the CMP webpage.
For directions on how to log your CE
hours, watch this video or read this guide.
Education Provider status does not automatically
make every event or workshop held by the Provider eligible for professional development continuing education hours; each individual event or workshop must be
submitted to USGBC's Education Review Body for approval. LEED exam prep
workshops are not eligible for CMP Continuing Education units.
Continuing Education Hours for Other EventsContinuing education hours can also be earned by attending any live presentation that: is longer than 50 minutes; supplements LEED knowledge in the areas of sustainable building practices, materials, and technologies; does not endorse or promote any companies or products; increases the competency of LEED Professionals; and follows current green building practices and provide accurate and relevant program content. USGBC - Northern California Chapter events generally meet these guidelines, contact us with any questions. CE hours earned as an attendee at live presentations may not exceed 5
hours per 2-year reporting period per credential.
For more information on GBCI's LEED Credential Maintenance Program continuing education requirements, including other ways to earn hours, read the CMP Guide.
