Greenbuild 2012 Call for Tour Proposals
The Greenbuild 2012 San Francisco Host Committee, Green Building Tours Sub-Committee is soliciting projects for possible inclusion in the Greenbuild 2012 Tours Program.
ABOUT GREENBUILD
The annual Greenbuild International Conference and Expo was launched in
2002 as the world's largest conference and expo dedicated to green
building. If designing, building, living and working in green buildings
is important to you, you're in good company. A great opportunity to
build new relationships and connect with your colleagues from throughout
the industry and around the world, Greenbuild will be coming to San
Francisco, November 13-16, 2012. The Northern California Chapter of the
US Green Building Council is looking forward to showcasing some great
examples of the Bay Area’s visionary sustainability work.
TOUR DETAILS
The goals of the Tours program at Greenbuild are two-fold. First, to
help attendees learn outside the convention center walls--seeing what
the Bay Area has to offer, and second to provide Continuing Education
opportunities for the conference. All tours must be approved for AIA
and GBCI CEUs, and so must be related to the professions of these two
organizations.
SELECTION CRITERIA
These criteria are designed to encourage tours that embody holistic
thinking about sustainability. This means looking beyond building
performance to the greater web of sustainability, including the
parameters of the tour itself. Successful tours or sites should achieve
as many of these goals as possible:
- Represent the Bay Area and its diversity of climates, languages, communities, and perspectives
- Emphasize innovations & unique approaches to sustainability issues
- Demonstrate intimate knowledge of operational issues and tenant engagement of built projects, not just issues from design and construction
- Demonstrate how the project reflects and responds to the Bay Area climate
- Highlight a sense of relevance and engagement with the community
- Engage the participant in a fun, interactive format
- Attempt to stay local and utilize sustainable means of transportation as much as possible
All projects submitted will be evaluated for their merit and may be grouped together with other similar projects into a tour by the Tours Committee, at the discretion of the Tours subcommittee and the USGBC. Prepackaged tour proposals may also have individual elements selected for tours, but may be accepted in their entirety.
Please see our Call for Tour Proposals. All applications MUST be made using the fillable pdf form, one application per project, submitted as an attachment emailed to the address below. Please “Save As” Project (Tour) Name and attach to email to retain electronic data transfer. DO NOT PRINT AND SCAN AS DATA WILL NOT BE CAPTURED ELECTRONICALLY.
