Built in 1914, the Moraga Barn, with it’s colorful past, is the oldest building in Moraga. Canyon Construction undertook the renovation of this former hotel, grocery store, telephone switching center and bar with the goal of achieving Platinum LEED Certification. Canyon Construction also sought to restore the building to its original historical exterior, while renovating the interior using the latest in modern green technologies to showcase abilities and interests in fine craftsmanship, historical aesthetics and conservation and efficiency.
The Moraga Barn is a state of the art green building, using 100% renewable energy, ultra energy and water efficient design, salvaged and sustainably harvested materials, and the optimum in indoor air quality. Chris Avant, President of Canyon Construction, will speak about the deconstruction, the LEED attributes and how they plan to attain a LEED Platinum Rating.
